Your dentist will evaluate if you may be a candidate for clear aligners, by looking at things such as teeth spacing, gum health, jaw positioning, and discussing your treatment goals. Oftentimes you can receive clear aligner therapy in our office, but you may be referred to an orthodontist if needed.

You will have x-rays, photos, and impressions taken and sent to the lab in preparation to plan your clear aligner case. You will return once the proposal is completed, and we will review the proposed treatment together, often through a digital simulation to show you what the final result could look like. We discuss other aspects like if temporary tooth colored bonding will be added to your teeth, if recontouring of teeth is needed, and treatment timeline as well. If all looks good, we approve the plan and the trays are fabricated.

Your dentist will apply the trays to your teeth to ensure they fit properly, and will provide you with several of the following trays to switch out at home as treatment progresses. You will typically wear your aligners for 22 hours of the day, and remove them only for eating and drinking.

Typically you will return about every 6 weeks to check your progress, and to receive your next set of trays. Once treatment is completed and you’re happy with your result, we remove any temporary composite bonding present, and give you your new clear retainers for your beautiful new smile!
